Vijay Deverakonda, Dil Raju's next to start shooting in 2025
Telugu actor Vijay Deverakonda and producer Dil Raju are set to collaborate again for an upcoming action drama. The untitled project, which was announced on Deverakonda's 35th birthday on May 9 this year, is scheduled to start shooting in April next year, reportedly. In an interview with News18 at the Moscow International Film Week, Raju shared details about the film and his equation with Deverakonda.
Raju praised Deverakonda's recent script choices
Raju praised Deverakonda's recent script choices, highlighting his focus on commercial films. He said, "He's working really hard these days. He's focusing on proper commercial scripts now." The producer also shared that his next project with Deverakonda is a mainstream film: "My next script is also a mainstream film set against the backdrop of the 1980s. It's heavy on action."
Deverakonda's current project with 'Jersey' director
Deverakonda is currently working with Jersey director Gowtam Tinnanuri on a big-budget action entertainer. "The film he's currently doing now - which is being made by Gautam - is a full-blown commercial film," stated Raju. There were rumors that the project had been shelved due to budgetary constraints, but the actor's team dismissed these claims. The shooting for this film began after the release of The Family Star. However, Telugu actor Sreeleela is no longer a part of it.
Cultural rootedness helps Indian films 'go global': Raju
Raju also discussed the success of commercial films in both Telugu and Hindi cinema. He believes that the cultural rootedness of Indian films is helping them gain international recognition. He said, "When Kalki was screened at the Moscow Film Week, everyone liked it because it was a visual experience and the story was a part of our history." His upcoming project with Deverakonda also aims to capture the local essence and is set in rural India.
