Nayanthara-Vignesh Shivan's production banner enters Gujarati cinema with 'Shubh Yatra'
What's the story
Tamil actor-filmmaker couple Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan have added another feather to their caps.
Their production firm, Rowdy Pictures, is set to back a Gujarati film, thus marking their debut in this regional industry, Shivan announced on Sunday.
Separately, the duo is also awaiting the release of the much-anticipated Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal, which also stars Nayanthara alongside Vijay Sethupathi and Samantha Ruth Prabhu.
Announcement
National Film Award-winning director Manish Saini helming the movie
Sharing the news online, Shivan posted several pictures with the cast and crew of the Gujarati film that has been titled Shubh Yatra.
"Happy to announce our first entry into Gujarati Cinema with their SuperStar #MalharThakar @MalharThakar & @Gajjarmonal, directed by national award winner #ManishSaini (sic)," he tweeted.
He added his Rowdy Pictures would look forward to "a continuous consistent journey" in this industry.

Information
Gajjar has previously worked in Tamil films
While Thakar is one of the top names in the Gujarati film fraternity, Gajjar has a connection with Tamil films.
She is best known for the 2014 Kollywood action thriller, Sigaram Thodu.
The actor welcomed the producer to the Gujarati industry with a warm post on Twitter.
As per Shivan's post, an inaugural puja ceremony to mark the beginning of production was also held.
Looking back
India's entry to Oscars 2022 was produced by Rowdy Pictures
We expect Shubh Yatra to be poignant and valuable, going by the track record of Shivan-Nayanthara's banner.
Last year, Rowdy Pictures-backed Tamil venture Koozhangal (Pebbles) had been selected as India's official entry to the Oscars, beating the likes of Hindi films such as Sardar Udham and Sherni.
The PS Vinothraj-directorial sadly missed out on bagging a nod in the Best International Feature Film category.
Upcoming
Meanwhile, 'Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal' is coming in April
As far as Shivan's directorial projects are concerned, the multi-faceted talent is coming with Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal in April.
As per promotional teasers and songs, it seems Sethupathi will be in a polygamous relationship with Nayanthara and Prabhu.
Given the star value and interesting subject matter, the film's teaser also raked in record views.
Shivan's fourth film directorial will hit theaters on April 28.
