'Do Aur Do Pyaar' director praises Vidya-Pratik's 'childish charm'
Shirsha Guha Thakurta, the director of the newly released film Do Aur Do Pyaar, has praised her lead actors Vidya Balan and Pratik Gandhi. In a recent interview with India Today, Thakurta described their performance as "magical." She expressed her gratitude for having such talented actors in her film, commending their dedication to their roles. The film was released on Friday, competing with Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2.
Thakurta highlighted Balan's versatility and Gandhi's unique appeal
Thakurta said, "They were generous, kind, and very giving as actors. With Vidya, you could really just ask her to do 3 variations of the same line, she would do it so convincingly." "Likewise, Pratik has this inherent charm. There are some lines that sound horrible on paper but when he says that line, they sound charming. I don't know of anyone else who can pull it off with ease the way he does."
Director commended actors' dynamic interaction and camaraderie
Thakurta further commented on the dynamic interaction between Balan and Gandhi. She described their energy during readings as infectious, with their camaraderie clearly evident. "They would be spontaneous, feed off each other's energy and it was priceless," Thakurta said. She also highlighted Balan's ability to make everyone laugh, adding that Gandhi is extremely spontaneous in delivering certain lines.
Thakurta also shared insights into onscreen rapport building
Thakurta disclosed that the team held numerous meetings prior to the shooting. "We met couple of times before shooting, for jamming and just getting comfortable with the entire team. There is a childish charm in both Vidya and Pratik which really made this film work. They became great friends and that shows." Do Aur Do Pyaar also features Ileana D'Cruz and Sendhil Ramamurthy in key roles.
