Vidya Balan speaks about her debut Telugu movie, NTR's biopic
Vidya Balan says she is having a great experience working on her debut Telugu film, a biopic on actor-politician Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR). The National Award Winner will be playing NTR's wife Basavatarakam in the bilingual project. "It is my first Telugu film, so I am very excited as I have never spoken and delivered dialogs in other language(s)," Vidya said. Here's more.
Vidya is now the brand ambassador of Malta Film Festival
Vidya has been appointed the brand ambassador for the Malta India Film Festival. "There is no better way than bringing two countries together than culture. Films are a huge tool for cultural exchange. It is fantastic that the film festival is happening. We will be celebrating movies from the two countries. It is great to see different world views through cinema," she said.
'Thugs of Hindostan' director will be jury member in festival
Director Vijay Krishna Acharya, who's working on 'Thugs of Hindostan', says he jumped at the idea of being a jury member for the festival. Acharya recently shot portions of the Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan-starrer film in Malta. "The idea came after I had finished filming. For my specific needs, Malta was a great place, it was a dream destination for me," Acharya said.
From films to politics, NTR was a dynamic personality
NTR, who was a prolific actor and politician, served as the CM of Andhra Pradesh for seven years over three terms. He made his debut in Telugu film 'Mana Desam' in 1949. He had also been the recipient of three National Film Awards as a producer and director. The 'Patala Bhairavi' (1951) actor founded Telugu Desam Party, the ruling party in Andhra, in 1982.
