Vidya Balan reveals why Indira Gandhi's web-series is facing delay
Last year, Vidya Balan was roped in for an upcoming web series, to be produced by Ronnie Screwvala, where she was to portray the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. She also confirmed the same this April. However, except that, no updates came forth. Addressing it, the actress revealed that the series has been postponed as a lot of work still needs to be done.
Web series to feature important elements of Indira's life
In her recent media interaction, Vidya said that the web series would not be hitting the floors anytime soon. She also mentioned that Ronnie is currently helping her with the material for the project. The web series would be based on journalist Sagarika Ghose's book, Indira: India's Most Powerful Prime Minister and will feature the Emergency, Indira's failed marriage and her personal life.
"There's too much material for it be made into film"
Earlier, there were reports that a feature film is being planned based on Sagarika's book. However, Vidya clarified, "There is too much material for it be made into a film. So, we decided to turn it into a web series." She also emphasized that the cast and the number of seasons of the web series haven't been finalized yet.

"I feel doing a web series involves a lot of work. While doing a web series, a lot of people associate themselves with it as compared to making a film. So, it takes a lot of time," Vidya was quoted as saying.
For now, Vidya is gearing up for Shakuntala Devi's biopic
For now, Vidya is gearing up for the release of Mission Mangal. The movie is based on ISRO's Mars Orbiter Mission, aka Mangalyaan. Besides, The Dirty Picture actress will be seen in the much-anticipated Shakuntala Devi's biopic. Expressing her excitement to play the mathematician on-screen, Vidya said, "It's amazing for me that someone who was known as a human-computer had so much fun."
