You won't believe why Vidya was sent a legal notice
The makers of Vidya Balan's film 'Tumhari Sulu' have received a legal notice for a very strange reason. If the latest reports are to be believed, Vidya and the makers of the film can face legal consequences for endorsing a cough syrup in the film. Here are the details.
Here's how things transpired
As part of her promotional activities, Vidya Balan teamed up with a pharmaceutical company, Torex. In a scene, Vidya can be seen saying, "Sulu ke har safar mein uska saathi, Torex cough syrup ho, toh alvida khasi (Torex cough syrup supports Sulu through every journey of hers, so goodbye to coughs)". She played an RJ in the movie.
The allegations by FDA
FDA commissioner, Pallavi Darade said the ad violated the basic norm of advisory caution. The notices stated that the advertisers didn't advise the patients to not use the drug without consulting physicians, which can result in serious consequences. They said that a notice would be sent to Vidya Balan also, for promoting the cough syrup in advertisements through newspapers and electronic media channels.
