Uri v/s Accidental PM: Vicky's surgical-strike crashes Anupam's political drama
Vicky Kaushal's Uri: The Surgical Strike and Anupam Kher's The Accidental Prime Minister released on Friday. While moviegoers were spoilt for choice, the movies battled at the box office. Both the movies were highly anticipated and they started the new year with a bang. It was a tough competition but Vicky's Uri managed to emerge victorious on the first day. Here are the numbers.
The story of Indian Army's retaliation against Pakistan
Starring Vicky Kaushal as an Indian Army officer, Uri is based on India's surgical strike on Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in 2016. Indian troops retaliated after the deadliest attack by Pakistani militants. In September 2016, the Army base camp in Uri district was attacked killing 18 soldiers. On September 29, the army launched precise attacks and destroyed the militant launchpads across the LoC.
Meanwhile, 'The Accidental Prime Minister' explores Manmohan's tenure as PM
Helmed by debutant director Vijay Gutte, The Accidental Prime Minister is based on the memoir penned by Sanjaya Baru. The movie explores Manmohan Singh's tenure as the Prime Minister with Anupam Kher playing the titular role. TAPM was surrounded by controversies since its inception which created a lot of political buzz among the audience. But contrary to expectations, the movie opened to disappointing reviews.
'Uri' gets good start, 'TAPM' fails to leave mark
