Veteran music composer Khayyam in ICU, suffering from lung infection
Padma Bhushan recipient and renowned music composer Khayyam was rushed to a Mumbai hospital few days back following a lung infection. According to reports, the veteran artist was admitted to the hospital after he collapsed in his residence on July 28. While Khayyam still remains in the Intensive care unit (ICU), his friend, ghazal singer Talat Aziz confirmed that his condition is stable now.

"He is right now in ICU, serious but stable. Doctors are attending to him. At this point, we don't know when he will get discharged from the hospital but we are all praying for his speedy recovery," Aziz was quoted as saying.
"I've received a lot of love from the film industry"
Khayyam is known for his work in movies like Kabhi Kabhie (1976), Trishul (1978), Noorie (1979), Umrao Jaan (1981), Razia Sultan (1983) etc. While talking about his journey in Bollywood, he had once stated, "I've received a lot of love from the film industry. Despite all my shortcomings, I was embraced warmly. I'm lucky to have made the kinds of songs I wanted to."
Khayyam declared to donate his wealth to his charitable trust
On a related note, Khayyam on his 89th birthday in 2016, had announced the formation of his charitable trust, Khayyam Jagjeet Kaur KPG Charitable Trust. He also declared that he'll donate his entire wealth of Rs. 10 crores to this trust to support the aspiring artists and technicians in the film industry. "I have given everything I had to my motherland," he had said.
