20 years later, SRK, Preity's 'Veer-Zaara' crosses ₹100cr worldwide
The 2004 romantic drama Veer-Zaara, directed by the late Yash Chopra, has surpassed the ₹100 crore mark at the worldwide box office after its re-release last week. The film, featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta in lead roles, continues to captivate audiences two decades after its initial release. Fans of the movie are celebrating this achievement on social media.
'Veer-Zaara' re-release box office collection
According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Veer-Zaara's re-release garnered ₹1.57 crore in domestic collections and ₹0.23 crore overseas, bringing the total to ₹1.8 crore. This is in addition to the ₹0.3 crore it earned during its initial re-release in February this year. The film had previously collected ₹61 crore domestically and ₹37 crore overseas during its original release, totaling ₹98 crore.
'Veer-Zaara' now stands at ₹102.6 crore worldwide
The film also earned ₹2.5 crore from 2005 till 2023. With the addition of its recent re-release collections, Veer-Zaara now stands at ₹102.6 crore at the worldwide box office, surpassing the coveted milestone of ₹100 crore.

Veer-Zaara, produced by Yash Raj Films, marked Chopra's third directorial venture with Khan after Darr (1993) and Dil To Pagal Hai (1997). The film's star-studded cast also included Rani Mukerji, Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Manoj Bajpayee, Boman Irani, Kirron Kher, Anupam Kher, and Divya Dutta. The plot revolves around a cross-border romance between an Indian soldier and a Pakistani woman.
