'Vedaa' crashes at box office, hasn't even collected ₹20cr
John Abraham-starrer action film Vedaa, which hit theaters on Independence Day alongside Stree 2 and Khel Khel Mein, has been facing a tough time at the box office. The movie, also featuring Sharvari and Abhishek Banerjee, could only manage to earn ₹34 lakh on its second Monday. The total box office collection for Vedaa now stands at ₹19.59 crore.
'Vedaa' underperforms in comparison to 'Stree 2,' 'Khel Khel Mein'
Vedaa's box office performance has been underwhelming, especially when compared to its competitors, Stree 2 and Khel Khel Mein. The horror-comedy Stree 2, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, outperformed both films on the opening day. Meanwhile, Vedaa struggled to compete against the Akshay Kumar-starrer Khel Khel Mein. The film's collection has seen a significant dip in its second week of release.
'Vedaa' marks reunion of Abraham and Nikkhil Advani
Vedaa marks the reunion of actor Abraham and director Nikkhil Advani, who have previously collaborated on successful projects like Batla House and Satyamev Jayate. The film is inspired by real-life events on caste discrimination. It features Sharvari in the titular role, with Abraham playing her mentor, former Major Abhimanyu Kanwar. Abhishek Banerjee, who also stars in Stree 2, essays the role of the antagonist.
