Varun Tej's 'Ghani' to release next Friday, February 25
Telugu film Ghani finally has a release date. The Varun Tej-starrer will hit theaters on February 25. This means, the film will face stiff competition from Bollywood movie Gangubai Kathiawadi, whose Telugu version will also release on February 25, as its Hindi counterpart. Notably, makers of Ghani had also selected March 4 as the second release date had the February outing not happened.
Why does this story matter?
The release date of Ghani faced repeated delays, leaving Tej's fans highly upset. After all, his last theatrical release was Gaddalakonda Ganesh, which came out three years ago. And, Ghani being Tej's first sports drama, where he will be seen as a boxer, upped their excitement all the more. So this new (and hopefully final) premiere date sure comes as good news for them.

'Ghani' faces tough competitors upon release
At the box office, Gangubai Kathiawadi is however not the sole competitor for Ghani. Another Tollywood film Aadavaallu Meeku Johaarlu, starring Sharwanand and Rashmika Mandanna, will also release on the same day. And then there is the Tamil mega-budgeter Valimai, having Ajith Kumar in the lead, which arrives in cinema halls a day prior to Ghani, in Hindi, Kannada and Telugu dubbed versions.
'Ghani's has received UA certification from censor board
Directed by Kiran Korrapati, Ghani has received a UA certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). On February 11, Geetha Arts, the production house backing the film, took to Twitter to inform about the certification, along with sharing Tej's photo. "Mega Prince Varun Tej's Ghani is Censored with U/A. The release date is locked, Announcement Coming soon!" the tweet had read.
When will 'Ghani' hit the OTT space?
Meanwhile, several reports suggest that Telugu OTT platform aha has bagged the streaming rights of Ghani. Usually, the regional streamer airs films four weeks after the theatrical run of a particular film. So, going by this, we may expect Ghani to release digitally somewhere end of March. While Saiee Manjrekar will be seen as the leading lady, Naveen Chandra is the antagonist in Ghani.
