Varun Dhawan, Sara's 'Coolie No. 1' sets become plastic free
Days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a campaign to ban single-use plastics, Varun Dhawan, Sara Ali Khan and the team of Coolie No. 1 have come out in support of the initiative. According to media reports, the sets of Coolie No. 1 have gone plastic-free. Reportedly, the team has discarded all the plastic, and have decided to use steel bottles instead. Here's more.

This way, Coolie No.1 becomes the first Hindi film set to go plastic-free. Lauding PM Modi for taking a "great initiative", Varun also shared a picture of himself posing with the Coolie No. 1 team as they flaunted their respective steel sippers. "Being a plastic-free nation is the need of the hour and we can all do this by making small changes," he wrote.

The Badlapur actor also thanked producers Deepshikha Deshmukh and Jackky Bhagnani for taking the initiative of making the sets plastic-free. Varun shared a picture of his customized steel sipper sent by the producers with a special note for their "coolest Coolie No. 1." "Sharing the burden of making our world plastic-free with you. One sip at a time," the note read.
"Each individual uses at least three plastic bottles on film-sets"
Talking about the initiative, Honey told Bollywood Hungama that their purpose is to reduce plastic use. "Every day we use so much plastic, and on film sets, each individual uses at least three plastic bottles. To avoid this, I thought of using sippers made from stainless steel and aluminum that apart from being reusable are also something that we can use offsets," she added.

She further stated that the team decided to have "Coolie No 1 inspired bottles" to support the cause. "The bottles, apart from helping save the environment, also becomes a kind of memorabilia for those working on the film," Deepshikha was quoted as saying.
Varun starrer is a remake of Govinda's 'Coolie No. 1'
Talking about the movie, this Varun starrer is the much-anticipated remake of Govinda and Karisma Kapoor 1995 release Coolie No. 1, and will be helmed by David Dhawan. In fact, if media reports are to be believed, the movie will also have a new version of Govinda's popular song from the movie, Husn Hai Suhana. The makers are eyeing a May 2020 release.
Varun is gearing up for 'Street Dancer 3D'
Apart from Coolie No.1, Varun is also gearing up for the release of his upcoming dance-drama Street Dancer 3D, with Shraddha Kapoor, which will release on January 24, 2020. On the other hand, Sara will be seen in Imtiaz Ali's Aaj Kal opposite Kartik Aaryan.
