Varun Dhawan joins Sunny Deol in 'Border 2': Report
After the massive success of Gadar 2, actor Sunny Deol is all set to feature in the sequel to his 1997 cult blockbuster, Border. The film will be produced by Bhushan Kumar along with JP Dutta and Nidhi Dutta. Now, according to a recent report in Pinkvilla, actor Varun Dhawan has also signed on for Border 2 and will star alongside Deol. Here are more details on this.
Dhawan, Deol to headline 'Border 2'
A source told the publication, "Border 2 is the biggest film of Indian Cinema in the making, and the team is making it even bigger with the casting by getting Varun Dhawan to play a major role in the tale with Sunny Deol." The source added that Dhawan is a big fan of the Border franchise and feels that this sequel could be a major landmark in his career.
'Border 2' to go on floors in November
The source further said that Border 2 is slated to go on floors in November—with Dhawan expected to join the shoot post the release of Baby John in December. The film is set to hit the big screen during the Republic Day 2026 weekend. The source added, "The entire team is charged up to take the film on floors. The pre-production work is going on in full swing, and the energies are inclined to create an unforgettable cinematic experience."
'Border 2' to be directed by Anurag Singh
The source also told Pinkvilla that the makers are set to rope in artists from all across the board to do justice to the scale and celebrate the legacy of the first film. Border 2 will be directed by Anurag Singh. In June, Deol announced the sequel, marking the film's 27th anniversary. The original film—helmed by JP—depicted the Battle of Longewala during the India-Pakistan war of 1971 and won acclaim for its narrative and performances.
