Not studios, 'Citadel' was shot on Mumbai streets, reveals Varun
Amazon Prime Video has revealed the premiere date for its much-anticipated original series, Citadel: Honey Bunny. The Indian installment of the Citadel franchise is set to launch on November 7. Varun Dhawan, one of the lead actors, disclosed at a special screening event that the series was filmed in real locations around Mumbai. This revelation added an authentic touch to the eagerly awaited series, helmed by Raj & DK (Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK).
'We were shooting...one day in Bhandup, one day in Thane'
During the special screening, Dhawan, sharing the stage with his co-star Samantha Ruth Prabhu, revealed intriguing details about the locations used in the upcoming series. "After Badlapur and October, I was shooting on real locations," Dhawan said. "With this, we were shooting every day, one day in Bhandup, one day in Thane. I was like, 'This is an Amazon show? I thought they would take us to sets.' But they were like, 'No, it has to be on the streets.'"

The storyline of Citadel: Honey Bunny merges elements of a gritty spy action thriller with a love story, set against the backdrop of the 1990s. Written by Sita R Menon, this unique blend promises to offer viewers an engaging and thrilling experience.
'Citadel: Honey Bunny' joins the global 'Citadel' franchise
The original Citadel series, starring Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, premiered in 2023. The Italian installment, Citadel: Diana, is set to premiere on October 10. Following these releases, India's series, Citadel: Honey Bunny, will debut on November 7. In the meantime, a second season of the original Citadel series is also slated to begin production this year with Joe Russo directing it reportedly.
