Varun Dhawan quashes rumors of 'roka' with girlfriend Natasha Dalal
On Wednesday evening, Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan, along with his family, arrived at his long-time girlfriend Natasha Dalal's Mumbai residence. Soon, there were speculations that the family, seen in festive outfits and carrying gifts, came there for the roka ceremony of the star couple. However, Varun has now categorically denied these rumors, claiming that it was a birthday party. Here are more details.
It was a birthday party, Varun clarified on Twitter
Reportedly, the families had gathered for the birthday celebration of Natasha's father Raju Dalal. Quoting an online article that had claimed the celebration to be a roka ceremony, Varun denied the rumors. He wrote on Twitter, "Hey guys before u let ur imagination run wild it was a birthday party. Wanted to clarify before any false news is spread cheers (sic)".

Meanwhile, Natasha's father's birthday party was attended by Varun's parents, film director David Dhawan and Karuna Dhawan, brother Rohit and his wife Jaanvi, and his uncle Anil along with his granddaughter Anjini. Others who graced the celebrations on Wednesday evening include filmmaker Karan Johar, fashion designer Manish Malhotra, and director Punit Malhotra.
Varun had confirmed relationship with Natasha, back in 2018
Earlier, Varun had confirmed his relationship with Natasha on an episode of Koffee With Karan, saying "I am dating her and...I plan to marry her." For the uninitiated, Natasha is a Mumbai-based designer. The two have known each other since childhood. Last year, several reports suggested that Varun and Natasha were to get married in December 2019. However, the families later dismissed these rumors.
Let's not make up dates and venues, David Dhawan said
Addressing the wedding rumors, Dhawan Sr. had once told Deccan Chronicle, "I know everybody is eager to see Varun married; so am I. We all in the family would be happy when he gets married." "But let's not make up dates and venues for the wedding. We will officially announce the wedding with all the details when it happens," he had said last year.
On the work front for Varun
Separately, on the work front, Varun was last seen in Remo D' Souza's Street Dancer 3D, also starring Shraddha Kapoor. Even though the film received mixed reviews, it earned an impressive Rs. 66 crore at the box office. He will next be seen alongside Sara Ali Khan, in David Dhawan's Coolie No. 1 remake, which is set to release on May 1.
