#KalankTrailer: Varun-Alia are star-crossed lovers, Aditya stuck in their tale
After releasing an intriguing teaser and captivating posters, makers of Kalank unveiled the much-awaited trailer of Karan Johar's period drama. Starring Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, and Aditya Roy Kapur, the trailer looked spellbinding as it took us on a journey of eternal love. Amid the stellar cast, it was Alia who simply stole the show. Let's decode it.
A heart-warming drama which has a love triangle
The over two-minutes trailer of Kalank features larger-than-life characters and an unusual love triangle. Kalank is the story of a pretentious marriage, an illicit affair and the consequences it brings. The trailer begins with Alia's voiceover. Regretting a decision, she claimed her choice destroyed several lives. And soon other characters make an entrance. We are introduced to Dev, Zafar, Satya, Balraj and Bahaar Begum.
Alia rules the 'Kalank' trailer
We have seen Alia in bubbly personalities in several movies like Dear Zindagi, Shaandaar, and as a fearless spy in Raazi. But this time she will be seen in a rather different avatar. The diva plays an intense role as a married woman who is stuck between her passion and destiny. Besides, Alia's innocence and beauty will surely make you skip a heartbeat.
The last scene of trailer captured our hearts
The grand sets, over the top costumes, and dialogues ticked all the right boxes. But the final scene in the trailer caught our eye. In this particular sequence, Alia can be seen extending a hand to Varun as he tries to board a train. Meanwhile, Aditya grabs her hand from inside the bogie. This perfectly captured the "torn between two worlds" emotion.
The connection between 'Kalank' and 'DDLJ' wasn't hard to miss
Obviously, the last scene reminded us of the climax of Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge. Only this time, it was the "heroine" who came to the rescue of the "hero". Moreover, Kalank seemed more intense considering the scene is set against the backdrop of partition.
New characters unveiled in the trailer
So far the makers had introduced the lead characters of Kalank. But in the trailer, three new characters were unveiled. Notably, actress Kriti Sanon will be seen in a sizzling dance number in the period drama. Apart from Kriti, actors Kunal Khemu and Kiara Advani will also be seen in supporting roles. They will definitely give a new angle to the story.
'Kalank' gets new release date to capitalize on extended weekend
Helmed by Abhishek Varman, Kalank is set in the pre-independence era of 1945. The movie, which was earlier slated to release on April 19, will now hit screens on April 17. Apparently, the makers wanted to capitalize on the extended weekend.
