'Azaad' to 'Kamal Aur Meena': Most-anticipated Bollywood biopics of 2025-26
Bollywood is famous for its enthralling biopics, and recent releases like Kartik Aaryan's Chandu Champion, Rajkummar Rao-led Srikanth, Amar Singh Chamkila starring Diljit Dosanjh, and Vikrant Massey's 12th Fail have proven the same. The coming years will also follow the trend with a bunch of interesting biopics across genres. Here's looking at some of the most awaited Hindi biopics scheduled to release in 2025-26.
'Azaad' and untitled Yuvraj Singh biopic lead the pack
One of the most awaited films is Azaad, a period drama set in pre-Independence India. It will mark the debut of Aaman Devgan and Rasha Thadani. It is headlined by Ajay Devgn, who reportedly plays Maharana Pratap. It will hit theaters in January 2025. Another highly-anticipated release is an untitled biopic on Yuvraj Singh—produced by T-Series. The film will encapsulate Singh's cricketing journey, including his iconic six sixes in a single over during the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup.
'Kamal aur Meena,' Kishore Kumar biopic: A glimpse into past
Siddharth P Malhotra's Kamal Aur Meena will explore one of Bollywood's most heartbreaking love stories, that of veteran actor Meena Kumari and director Kamal Amrohi. The film has generated buzz with Kiara Advani being eyed for the role of Kumari. In another homage to a Bollywood legend, Aamir Khan is reportedly in talks to play iconic actor-singer Kishore Kumar in an upcoming biopic directed by Anurag Basu.
Abdul Hamid biopic: A tribute to a war hero
Vikram Khakhar will produce a film in honor of martyred 1965 war hero Abdul Hamid, who was posthumously awarded the Army's highest honor, Param Vir Chakra. The patriotic movie will revolve around the India-Pakistan War of 1965 and is co-produced by Hamid's son and former soldier, Zainul Hasan. The cast for this biopic has not been finalized yet. Release date and other announcements are also awaited.
Farhan Akhtar's '120 Bahadur' will also be deeply patriotic
Another film based on a real-life figure is Farhan Akhtar's 120 Bahadur, directed by Razneesh "Razy" Ghai. Akhtar will play Major Shaitan Singh in the movie. The film will showcase the Battle of Rezang La and the 1962 Indo-China war. Major Singh was a heroic army officer who played a crucial role in the 1962 Sino-Indian War and was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra.
