Why Unni Mukundan has 'no-kissing,' 'no-intimacy' rule in films
What's the story
Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan, who is known for his role in the A-certified film Marco, recently revealed his "no-kissing, no-intimacy" policy for films.
Speaking to OnManorama, he said that despite filmmakers pressuring him to include intimate scenes in his movies, he stands firm on keeping them family-friendly.
After a seven-year-long break from romantic roles, Mukundan returned as a romantic lead in Get-Set Baby, released on Friday.
Actor's perspective
Mukundan's stance on intimacy in films
Mukundan admitted that his "no-kissing, no-intimate scene rule" could be perceived as a restriction and a hurdle while portraying romantic leads.
He elaborated, "I have a no-kissing, no-intimate scene rule that I follow in all my films. I want my movies to be appealing to all kinds of audiences."
Even with instances of other actors accepting on-screen intimacy, Mukundan stands his ground.
Alternative approach
'There are many ways to show intimacy...': Mukundan
Mukundan feels there are other ways to show intimacy between couples without kissing scenes.
He compared it to action scenes and said, "It's the same policy you follow in action shots. Though you appear to be hitting the person, you never touch his face or body."
He said he isn't against his colleagues doing romantic scenes in their movies but has created a bubble for himself.

In 2018, however, he was determined to change that narrative and launched his own production house, Unni Mukundan Films.
His mission? To make five strong family-oriented films that resonated with his emotions and values.
