Janhvi Kapoor's 'Ulajh' predicted to collect ₹1-2cr on Day 1
Film business expert Girish Johar predicts a slow start at the box office for Janhvi Kapoor's latest film, the spy thriller Ulajh. Kapoor, who made her Bollywood debut in 2018 with Dhadak, has earned acclaim for her diverse roles across a range of genres. Her recent venture into the spy thriller genre with Ulajh is among this year's most anticipated releases.
Johar says 'Ulajh' will rely on word-of-mouth publicity
In a conversation with Filmibeat, Johar suggested that Ulajh will heavily rely on word-of-mouth publicity due to its urban target audience and niche thriller genre. He stated, "I think the film is relying on word of mouth. It is coming from the makers of Talvar and they are known for nuanced storytelling." Johar believes that it might earn "₹1-1.5 crore or maybe ₹2 crore" on its opening day.
Plot and cast details of 'Ulajh' revealed
Ulajh, directed by Sudhanshu Saria, tells the story of a young IFS officer caught in a dangerous personal conspiracy while stationed in a career-defining position far from home. The film stars Gulshan Devaiah, Roshan Mathew, Rajesh Tailang, and Adil Hussain alongside Kapoor. Despite the anticipation surrounding its release, Ulajh has received mixed reviews from audiences.
Kapoor shared her deep involvement in 'Ulajh'
Speaking with Variety, Kapoor expressed her deep involvement in Ulajh, stating, "I've never taken so much ownership of a film and been so obsessive or sensitive about a film before. They really made me feel involved and empowered, and I have a voice." She added that she has never before held such strong opinions on all aspects of a film.
