Twinkle Khanna reacts to reports of attending Dawood Ibrahim's parties
With her trademark wit and humor, Twinkle Khanna recently tackled persistent rumors surrounding her alleged involvement in parties hosted by notorious underworld figure Dawood Ibrahim in Dubai. In a recent column for The Times of India, she unequivocally debunked these claims, labeling them as nothing more than "media fabrications." Khanna also shed light on the prevalence of manipulated news stories in today's media landscape.
Khanna humorously dismissed claims of performing at Ibrahim's parties
Khanna wrote, "We have already witnessed a spate of manipulated news stories, from the morphed pictures that showed the Phogats smiling during the wrestler's protests, to uncountable stories about the origin of the coronavirus." Humorously refuting the rumors about her alleged performances at Ibrahim's parties, she wrote, "I have even seen my name on a mainstream television channel ticker saying I had performed a medley of songs for Dawood."
Khanna compared her dancing skills to watching WWF match
She further added, in jest, that her dancing skills are akin to watching a wrestling match. "Considering that even my children think my dancing skills are akin to watching a WWF match between a lone wrestler and gravity, the news channels should have known that Dawood would have chosen more skilled performers," she said, adding, "But such is the world of fake news."
Meanwhile, husband Akshay Kumar dismissed rumors as false in 2010
These rumors earlier gained the limelight in 2010 when Khanna's husband, actor Akshay Kumar, dismissed them as "untrue." During a press conference that year, Kumar stated, "I got no idea from where all these stories come from. If these stories were true, my house would have been raided." He added that not a single constable had visited his house since the story was reported.
Khanna: From actor to successful author
After stepping away from acting, Khanna ventured toward writing. After starring in films like Barsaat (1995)—which earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut—and other popular movies such as Seenu (1999) and Baadshah (1999), she decided to quit acting. In 2015, she published her first non-fiction book, Mrs Funnybones, followed by other successful books including The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad (2016), Pyjamas Are Forgiving (2018), and Welcome to Paradise in 2023.
