Will always speak up, if something matters to me: Twinkle
Her witty sense of humor and sassy remarks may have landed her in trouble a few times, but Twinkle Khanna says she would never mince her words for something she believes in. The actor-turned-author, who's been trolled a lot on social media for her comments on various issues, says she does not care what others think and will continue speaking her mind. Here's more.
When something moves you, you give opinion, says Twinkle
"When something moves you or matters to you, you give an opinion. If something matters to me, I will always speak up. It may not be a very important thing, but it may have entered my sphere of what I feel is important," Twinkle said in an interview at an L'Oreal Professionnel event. The 43-year-old star launched the brand's "Only In Salons" campaign.
Twinkle, Akshay embroiled in controversy over Rustom costume auction
The latest controversy in which Twinkle and her husband Akshay Kumar were embroiled was over the auction of the naval costume from "Rustom" in which Akshay played an Indian Navy officer. The couple announced it would be auctioned and the proceeds would fund animal rescue/welfare. Twinkle received backlash from an Army officer, who tweeted she would get a "bloody nose" if the costume's auctioned.
After Army officer threatened, Twinkle said she would take legal-action
Following the Army officer's tweet, Twinkle said she would initiate legal action against him. Akshay and Twinkle were served legal notice and accused of playing with the armed forces' sentiments. Asked if she thinks people didn't understand the intention behind the auction or was it a mistake on the couple's part, Twinkle said, "I don't really sit and think what other people are thinking."
There are two things that matter to me: Twinkle
"I have a very short time on this planet...I have decided that there are two things that I want to do - I want to leave this world better than what I found, and I want to thoroughly enjoy myself in this process," Twinkle said.
