This year was quite a roller-coaster ride for the Indian television industry. It witnessed more drama than some of the shows in this whole year. From famous fall-outs to multiple petitions being filed by the audience to shut down a show, these real-life incidents were far more entertaining than the reel ones. Kapil Sharma's massive fallout with Sunil Grover
Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover went to Australia for a show but while returning to Delhi, the two had a massive fight on the plane. Post which, Sunil exited 'The Kapil Sharma Show' and the TRPs started falling as Kapil couldn't shoulder it entirely. Although Kapil apologized many times, the two never made up entirely. Their fallout was a major disappointment for the fans.
When television stopped to a new low with 'Pehredaar..'
All hell broke loose when Sony television came up with a not-so-entertaining daily soap 'Pehredaar Piya Ki'. It showed a 10-year old marrying an 18-year old girl. The audience found it extremely regressive and filed a petition against it, demanding a ban. This was for the first time in the history of Indian television that a show was asked to be banned.
Akshay Kumar-Mallika Dua fiasco
Even Akshay Kumar was not spared this year! As a co-judge on the show 'The Great India Laughter Challenge', he jokingly commented on Mallika Dua, He said, "Aap bell bajao, main aap ko bajata hun." Soon after this, veteran journalist and Mallika's father took to Twitter to criticize Akshay's insensitive remarks. This was followed by a word-war between his wife, Twinkle Khanna and Mallika.
When 'Beyhadh' actor Piyush Sahdev was found guilty of rape
Popular television actor, Piyush Sahdev, who came to fore with his stint in the television show 'Beyhadh' was accused of rape. Further, the medical reports also confirmed the same. The actor is currently in judicial custody after his bail plea was rejected by the court. He was accused of rape by a fellow actress. The news must have jostled his fans to the core.
