Trump reposts AI Swift fan images, says they're backing him
Former US President Donald Trump has claimed that he is receiving support from fans of pop star Taylor Swift for his 2024 presidential campaign. On Monday (local time), Trump shared artificial intelligence (AI)-generated images on his social media platform Truth Social, which showed women wearing T-shirts with the slogan "Swifties For Trump." These posts have caused a stir among Swift's global fanbase, known as "Swifties."
Trump shares AI-generated images, captioned it 'I accept'
Trump shared screenshots of posts by right-wing accounts, which showed multiple AI-generated images. The posts also included an AI-generated poster of Swift dressed in an Uncle Sam outfit, urging her fans to vote for Trump. The former President captioned the post with "I accept." One X/Twitter user posted, "The Swifties For Trump movement is real!" alongside a photo collage that Trump shared, which is clearly labeled as 'satire.'
Trump suggested his leadership would keep Swift safe
In a subsequent post, Trump shared a video of a woman discussing "Swifties...waking up" in light of the recent terror plot that led to the cancellation of Swift's Eras Tour concerts in Austria. The video suggested that Trump's previous administration had ensured global stability, implying that his leadership would keep Swift safe. To note, Swift has not yet publicly endorsed any candidate for the 2024 presidential elections. However, she had supported President Joe Biden in the 2020 elections.
Swift criticized Trump on multiple occasions
Meanwhile, Swift, who described Trump's 2016 victory as "completely blindsiding," has frequently criticized the former president in recent election cycles. In 2020, Swift criticized for what she called the former president's "calculated dismantling" of the US Postal Service, stating, "He is WELL AWARE that we do not want him as our president. He's chosen to blatantly cheat and put millions of Americans' lives at risk in an effort to hold on to power."
