French doors, editing studio: Inside Kangana Ranaut's ₹40cr on-sale bungalow
Bollywood actor and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Kangana Ranaut has reportedly put her luxurious bungalow in Mumbai's upscale Pali Hill area on the market for ₹40cr, reported Bollywood Hungama. The property, which also serves as the office for Ranaut's production house Manikarnika Films, was in the news in 2020 when it was partially demolished by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) over allegations of illegal construction. Let's take a tour of the house!
Discussion area and mezzanine zone are among the highlights
The interior of the bungalow, reportedly designed by Shabnam Gupta, features a stunning wooden staircase leading to a spacious main workplace, as revealed by Code Estate on YouTube. The property also includes a cozy editing studio, discussion area, conference room, and a massive meeting area on the second floor. Additional seating is provided in a mezzanine zone while a bathroom complete with shower, wardrobe and dressing area adds to the property's luxury.
A blend of Parisian and Indian aesthetics
The design of the actor-MP's bungalow has been described as a fusion of a Parisian cafe with Indian touches. The aesthetic is achieved through elements such as French doors covered with sheer blinds, custom furniture sourced from Rajasthan, exposed ceiling rafts, and patches of greenery. According to Code Estate, the property spans over a plot size of 285 sq m and includes a construction area of 3042 sq ft along with a 500 sq ft parking space.
Past: Controversy surrounding Ranaut's bungalow in 2020
In September 2020, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) partially demolished parts of Ranaut's bungalow citing illegal construction. The demolition was halted midway after a stay order from Bombay High Court in September. Ranaut filed a case against BMC and initially demanded ₹2cr for compensation but later dropped her demands in May 2023. The Bombay High Court struck down the BMC's order to demolish part of the bungalow, terming it "actuated by malafide" and a complete disregard of her rights.
