The biggest electronic dance music festival
Boom is a small town located between Antwerp and Brussels; it has been hosting Tomorrowland, the biggest electronic dance music (EDM) festival in the world, since 2006. The biggest and most iconic names of the EDM world, Armin van Buuren, Axwell, Marco Bailey, Fred Baker, David Guetta, Ruthless and DJ Zany have performed here. An estimated 400,000 expected to descend on Boom this weekend.
Cashless Tomorrowland and Dreamville
Dreamville is a vibrant camping ground where festival goers can pitch their tents. It can accommodate nearly 40000 people. Festival ticket-holders receive a 'Tomorrowland Bracelet' at home. The Bracelet needs to be activated and topped-up with 'Pearls' the official currency of Tomorrowland as well as Dreamville. The official Bracelet is the only way to pay for food, drinks and rent lockers at the festival.
Tomorrowland's 2016 theme
Tomorrowland's renowned for its opulent and larger-than-life stages; slick main stage designs ensure the festival has a bigger 'shock and awe' impact year after year. 2016 theme, 'Elixir of Life': keeping in sync with that, early pictures from the festival show a stupendous edifice of a gorgeous tree: it has platforms for performers, secret alcoves for artists and digital displays embedded in expansive greenery.
Ticket sales gone in a jiffy
As soon as ticket sales open up online, an approximate 3-4 lakhs of $300 tickets are sold off in a couple of hours and a similar nnearly a few lakhs are on the waiting list in case of tickets are cancelled/returned or people can't make it.
Lot more than EDM
Phase 1 of the festival line-up has Tiësto, Axwell & Ingrosso, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Martin Garrix, and The Chainsmokers, as headliners. Tomorrowland outdoes itself every year by putting up a more outrageous and decadent show with fireworks, lasers and dance events. Mainstages in the past have been constructed as explosive butterflies, active volcanoes and are always according to theme of the year.
Tomorrowland: A surreal experience
Legendary main stages: Volcanoes, The Boat House, Mythical Frames, The Fairy Castle, The Opera Stage create a mythical ambience. With fireworks synced with music tracks, floating lakes, poker casinos, flowers showered on the dancing crowd hugely add to the surreal experience.
