Tom Cruise-fronted 'Mission Impossible 7' gets title, trailer at CinemaCon
Tom Cruise is back as Ethan Hunt to tackle a new bad guy! The actor revealed the trailer and official title of Mission Impossible 7 in a pre-recorded message at the CinemaCon 2022. It will now be called Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning - Part 1, which will get premiered on July 14, 2023. Meanwhile, the second part will arrive on June 28, 2024.
Why does this story matter?
Mission Impossible 7 was shot across several locations following COVID-19 protocols, but during the London shoot in December 2020, many crew members reportedly breached restrictions. As a result, co-producer Cruise blasted them, leading to minimum five people quitting the team. After facing many difficulties like these, the film's production finally got finished last September and since then, excitement around the film touched the sky!
What did the trailer show?
A clip from the trailer showed Hunt nose-diving off a cliff while on his motorcycle and free-falling in the abyss. It also showed Eugene Kittridge (Henry Czerny) telling Hunt, "Your days of fighting for the greater good are over. You are fighting to save an ideal that doesn't exist... never did," to which the seasoned agent replies, "You need to pick a side."

Thereafter, visuals of the Vatican, Venice, Cruise in a desert, fights on train and other action sequences followed in the trailer. We also see appearances from The White Widow (Vanessa Kirby) and Ilsa (Rebecca Ferguson). Directed by Chris McQuarrie, the film will be distributed by Paramount Pictures. Apart from Cruise, it has also been produced by JJ Abrams, McQuarrie, David Ellison, and Jake Myers.
'MI' franchise has glorious affair with box office
The Mission Impossible films have collected a solid $3.5B (roughly) at the worldwide box office since 1996. Among all, Mission: Impossible III (2006) was the lowest scorer but the Hollywood star returned gloriously in Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol (2011). But, before catching him in his Hunt avatar, we will see Cruise as Pete "Maverick" Mitchell in Top Gun: Maverick, getting released next month.
