His life had been marred by controversy since 2023 when he was arrested in a high-profile drugs case.

Chowdary was arrested in 2023 by the Cyberabad Special Operations Team. Investigations into the case had revealed his alleged links with clients from Tollywood and Kollywood, and influential business circles.

The filmmaker is said to have purchased marijuana from a Nigerian national named Petit Abouzar, using it for personal consumption and distributing it to his associates.
Apart from his film industry troubles, Chowdary had opened a pub in Goa called OHM. He was reportedly supplying drugs to celebrities from the establishment.
His life ended in a hotel room in the same city, tragically. The details of his death are now being probed by local authorities.
