Akshay gets his first Rs. 300 crore grosser with 'TEPK'
'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' continues to bring accolades for Akshay Kumar even months after its release. On the back of its collection in China, the worldwide total of the film has gone past Rs. 300 crore, a first for an Akshay starrer. The socially relevant movie has so far raked in $13.96 million (Rs. 95 crore) in the neighboring country.
Its worldwide earnings stands at Rs. 311.5 crore
Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' emerged Akshay's highest-grossing film in the domestic market with the lifetime collection of Rs. 134.22 crore. And now, as the China business has taken the film's overseas total to Rs. 125 crore, its overall global earnings stands at Rs. 311.5 crore. The film features Bhumi Pednekar opposite Akshay.
Fifth Indian film to release in China this year
Over the last few years, China has emerged a lucrative market for Hindi films, courtesy Aamir Khan. Most of his recent films have done humongous business there. 'Toilet Ek Prem Katha' was the fifth Indian film to be imported into the Middle Kingdom this year after 'Secret Superstar', 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan', 'Hindi Medium' and 'Baahubali 2'.
