Kangana, Ranveer win big at TOIFA 2016
The TOIFA 2016 awards honoured the best from Hindi film industry. The awards were held in two parts - the Technical Awards and the main event that took place at Dubai International Sports Stadium. Kangana Ranaut (Tanu weds Manu Returns) took home the Best Actress award, while the Best Actor award went to Ranveer Singh (Bajirao Mastani). 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' was adjudged the Best Movie.
The Times of India Film Awards (TOIFA)
The Times of India Film Awards are given by The Times of India to recognize both talented actors and technical professionals in the Hindi language film industry of India. The awards were first started in 2013.
Performances that rocked the stage
Ranveer Singh danced to Amitabh Bachchan's songs and the legendary actor even joined the enthusiastic Ranveer on stage. Shah Rukh Khan performed to the beats of Jabra Fan, Gerua, Lungi Dance and enthralled the audience. Salman made a dazzling entrance on a white Lamborghini before performing to the theme of 'Heroes of Bollywood'. Kareena Kapoor Khan too paid a tribute to 'Divas of Bollywood'
Yo Yo Honey Singh is back and how!
Yo Yo Honey Singh, who had been missing from action since the past 18 months had the entire stadium buzzing with his performance. He took the stage by storm and performed on 'Yaar Na Miley' from Kick with Jacqueline Fernandez. Actors Varun Dhawan and Ranveer Singh too joined Honey Singh during his performance and added more sizzle to it.
The critics awards
Amitabh Bachchan won the award for Best Actor (Critics Choice) for his comical performance in Piku, a movie based on a father-daughter relationship. Kalki Koechlin walked away with Best Actress (Critics Choice) award for her fantastic performance in 'Margarita With A Straw'. 'Talvar' based on the real life Arushi Talwar double murder case won the Best Film Critics Choice award.
The music awards go to...
The tile song of 'Hamari Adhuri Kahaani' bagged the 'Song of the Year' award, while Roy was given the 'Album of the Year' award. Papon bagged the Best Playback Singer (Male) trophy for 'Moh moh ke dhaagey' from 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha'. Shreya Ghoshal won the Best Playback (female) trophy for the 'Mohe rang do lal' from 'Bajirao Mastani'.
The Lifetime Achievement award
Amitabh Bachchan won the Lifetime Achievement Award which was presented to him by Anil Kapoor.
