'TMKOC': Old Sodhi earned 160% more salary than new Sodhi!
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC), the popular Hindi TV show, has been loved by the audience for its relatability, humor, and numerous memorable characters. One such role is that of Roshan Singh Sodhi, known for his kindness and generosity. Now, a recent report by Koimoi has revealed that Gurucharan Singh, who portrayed the character for several years, reportedly earned 160% more than his successor, Balwinder Singh Suri! Singh left the show in 2020.
Comparing earnings of Singh and Suri on 'TMKOC'
According to the portal, Singh was earning ₹65,000 per episode during his tenure on the show. On the other hand, Suri, despite having over 25 years of experience in the entertainment industry, is currently earning ₹25,000 per episode. The report suggests that Singh's popularity surpassed that of his successor. It's also important to note that Suri's performance has not been well-received by viewers, who have repeatedly taken to social media to demand Singh back.

In comparison to Singh and Suri, other actors on TMKOC have different pay scales. Dilip Joshi, who plays the central character Jethalal, earns ₹1.50 lakh per episode while Mandar Chandwadkar, who essays Bhide, takes home ₹80,000 per episode. In yet another news related to the show, recently, actor Kush Shah, who essayed Goli, left the show, leaving yet another dent in the sitcom's legacy.
Singh's return to Mumbai and future plans
Singh, who was in the news earlier this year due to his absence and subsequent return, expressed a desire to return to TMKOC, as reported by Times Now/Telly Talk India. Singh reportedly urged producer Asit Kumarr Modi to publicly address his potential return to the show. However, Singh's request was declined by Modi; despite the setback, Singh received warm wishes from Modi for his future endeavors.
