Gurucharan Singh tried to resolve Bansiwal-Modi dispute after harassment allegations
Gurucharan Singh, who played the character of Sodhi in the popular television show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, recently opened up about the alleged toxic environment on set and his efforts to mediate between co-star Jennifer Bansiwal (who played Singh's on-screen wife) and producer Asit Kumarr Modi. This comes after Bansiwal accused Modi of sexual harassment last year. Singh also shared his dissatisfaction with the show's working conditions.
Singh compared the show's environment to corporate jobs
In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Singh compared the show's environment to corporate jobs and expressed his dissatisfaction with the working conditions. "What I didn't like is that my shoot used to be at 12 and I was called at 7 in the morning. In the morning you come up with the energy and you just wait for the shoot," he said. "One must not feel that confusion that you are having a sadistic pleasure with them," he added.
'I tried for both of them should sort this out...'
When Singh was questioned about his co-star Bansiwal, the 51-year-old actor revealed that he recently met Bansiwal and tried to mediate between her and Modi following the sexual harassment allegations. "At that time I felt that I was trying to help but what if I got into trouble with their issue? I tried for both of them should meet and sort this out but Asit ji didn't want to patch up, while Jennifer was ready."
Singh described the initial experience with Modi as enjoyable
Singh also spoke about his initial relationship with Modi, describing it as creative and enjoyable. "Asit was very good at the start, mujhe bhauth maza aata tha unko dekh ke boh bande ko baith shauk tha (I used to enjoy watching them a lot; that person had a great passion), that you should do this and that, he always comes up with a lot of creativity," he said.
Singh made headlines when he disappeared suddenly
For those unaware, Singh made headlines when he disappeared from Delhi in April. His family and friends were worried about his whereabouts, but it was later revealed that he was on a spiritual journey. Elaborating over his disappearance, he told Indian Express, "I had been hurt by my near and dear ones, despite trying to get work." Meanwhile, Singh recently approached Modi to request reinstatement in TMKOC, but his request was reportedly denied, according to Times Now.
