This 'Sarabhai...' actor auditioned for 'Shark Tank' and got rejected
Rajesh Kumar, famously known as Rosesh Sarabhai from the hit sitcom Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, recently dropped an interesting tidbit: he actually applied to be on Shark Tank India! Even though he cleared two out of three rounds, the actor ended up not making the cut. He shared this news during an interview with Siddharth Kannan, where he also talked about his career shift from acting to farming.
Kumar's journey to 'Shark Tank India' and back
Kumar opened up about how he got on Shark Tank, saying, "I had applied for Shark Tank India. I had cleared two out of three rounds." He added, "You also had to submit your videos, so I thought, I might get a favor because I am a known face. That here is an actor who is a social entrepreneur talking about agriculture." He added that his father paid for his tickets to Kolkata where he presented his pitch.
Kumar's shaken confidence and unexpected film offer
Kumar shared that during that tough phase, he was so underconfident that he even doubted whether he would be able to land film roles without auditions. But everything changed when he was offered Nawazuddin Siddiqui's Haddi. "Just before I left for Shark Tank, I got a call for Haddi, and they wanted to meet me." To his surprise, the team confirmed his role without an audition and even agreed to pay him an extra ₹1L if he shaved his head!
Kumar's current acting venture: 'Binny And Family'
Meanwhile, Kumar is currently seen in the film Binny And Family marking the acting debut of Anjini Dhawan, niece of actor Varun Dhawan. The film also stars Pankaj Kapur and Himani Shivpuri. Despite his unsuccessful attempt at Shark Tank India, it seems that Kumar has found his footing back in the acting world with this new project.
