Deadpool and Wolverine's anti-cell phone PSA might play in theaters
A public service announcement (PSA) featuring Ryan Reynolds's Deadpool and Hugh Jackman's Wolverine was premiered at CinemaCon recently. The PSA encouraged viewers to refrain from using their phones during movie screenings. An insider told The Hollywood Reporter that this PSA could be used to promote the upcoming release of Deadpool & Wolverine. However, neither Marvel nor the creators of Deadpool & Wolverine have confirmed anything.
PSA's humorous approach to cell phone etiquette
In the PSA, Deadpool humorously teases that he knows secrets about the upcoming movie Avengers: Secret Wars. However, whenever he attempts to reveal a secret, a call interrupts him. This leaves the audience in suspense and sets up Wolverine's strongly worded rant against using mobile devices during movies. The humorous yet stern message is designed to discourage viewers from disrupting movie screenings with their phones.
'Deadpool & Wolverine' not a sequel, says director
Deadpool & Wolverine is the third Deadpool film but is not Deadpool 3, according to director Shawn Levy. In a conversation with ScreenRant, Levy clarified that the movie is a distinct entity titled Deadpool & Wolverine and it's not trying to mimic the first two films. The film serves as a link between Fox's previous X-Men Universe and Disney's Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is set to hit theaters on July 26.
Returning cast members for 'Deadpool & Wolverine'
The majority of the cast from the first two Deadpool films will return for Deadpool & Wolverine. Jackman will reprise his role as Wolverine from 20th Century's X-Men series. Other returning actors include Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Rob Delaney (Peter), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio), and Stefan Kapičić as Colossus. The film is directed by Levy, who co-wrote the script with Reynolds, Zeb Wells, Rhett Reese, and Paul Wernick.
