#ComicBytes: 5 Marvel characters who wielded Infinity Gauntlet of Thanos

    What's the story

The mad titan Thanos was the antagonist in Infinity War. Though the Avengers tried their best, he still managed to erase half the world's population.

His power came from the Infinity Gauntlet that he wore. The gauntlet contained all the Infinity Stones, essentially elevating him to the level of 'God'.

However, he is not the only Marvel character who has witnessed its power.

    Information

A little about the Infinity Gauntlet

The Infinity Gauntlet was first seen in the possession of Thanos in Marvel's films and the comics. The gauntlet is notably used to channel the power of the six Infinity Gems. The gems are, as we know, soul, power, time, reality, mind and space.

    Santa Claus

Christmas with a chance of infinite power

Unsurprisingly, Santa Claus exists in the Marvel Universe.

In one of the comics following Secret Invasion, where Skrulls disguised themselves as earth's residents, Santa discovered his reindeer were also Skrulls.

He asked help from Illuminati, a group including Black Panther, Iron Man, Namor, and others.

However, the Infinity Gauntlet's power corrupted Santa and Namor had to throw a snowball at him to retrieve it.

    Hulk

The king of smashing becomes a God

The Hulk is famous for his immense strength even without the Infinity Gauntlet.

In Marvel's Ultimate Universe, Hulk briefly wielded two Infinity Gauntlets. Yes, you read that right. There are two gauntlets and eight infinity stones in that universe.

Luckily, not all stones were equipped and other Avengers, or Ultimates as they are called, managed to apprehend Hulk before he started a smashing spree.

    Iron Man

The stuff heroes are made of

In one of the Avengers issues, a villain called The Hood tries to use the Infinity Gauntlet for nefarious plans.

As the Avengers and Illuminati gather to stop him, Iron Man manages to wield the gauntlet during battle.

He quickly restores order and to the credit of Tony Stark, he does not let the power corrupt him and gives up the gauntlet immediately after.

    Captain America

Every soldier can cast the shadow of a hero

If anyone could resist the corrupting power of the Infinity Gauntlet, it had to be Captain America.

Steve Rogers joined the Illuminati as their moral compass. When earth faced the threat of destruction, Captain put on the gauntlet to save the day.

He did manage to avoid the catastrophe, but apparently destroyed five of the six infinity stones.

    Nonetheless, Cap deserves applause.

    Adam Warlock

A contender for the Infinity Gauntlet

In the comics, Adam Warlock saves the day as Thanos tries to execute his monstrous plan using the Infinity Gauntlet.

An extremely powerful being, Warlock steals the gauntlet from Thanos and carries it to safety.

He splits up the stones among members of the Infinity Watch, including Gamora and Drax.

If only, Warlock had appeared in the new Infinity War film as well.

    Do you know?

A notable mention of our beloved anti-hero

Among the list of characters who wore the Infinity Gauntlet, Deadpool deserves special mention. While everyone used the gauntlet to destroy or save the universe, Deadpool stole the gauntlet from Thanos to organize a comedy roast where he could make fun of all Marvel characters.
