#ComicBytes: 5 fatal injuries suffered by Wolverine
Wolverine or Logan is one of the most feared mutants in the Marvel universe. It is not due to his adamantium claws, but because of his regenerative powers. Wolverine's advanced healing, the claws as well as feral instinct make him a deadly and persistent warrior. Across comics, Wolverine has withstood several injuries and returned to fighting. Here are Wolverine's five deadliest injuries.
From the ashes like a phoenix he rose
During the 'Civil War' story, Wolverine was working together with the Superhuman Restraint Unit to track down a mutant called Nitro. Nitro had the power to explode in flames and rebuild himself. During one of the encounters, his explosion consumed Wolverine in flames and he was reduced to only his adamantium skeleton. However, his flesh, nervous system and skin began to grow back soon.
He likes smoke and lightning, heavy metal thunder
In 2009 comic 'Wolverine vs Thor', Loki tricked Wolverine into thinking that Thor was his brother and archenemy, Sabretooth. As Wolverine fought Thor, his speed was too much for the God of Thunder to deal any heavy damage. Thor summoned a bolt of lightning, enough to melt metal. However, Logan not only survived the injury but also snapped out of Loki's enchantment.
Grave encounters of the angry kind
Wolverine has gone up against the Hulk numerous times. Hulk's strength against Wolverine's healing capacity and damaging abilities makes for some goriest encounters. In 'Old Man Logan' when Hulk consumed Wolverine, he clawed his way out of the beast's body. In 'Ultimate Wolverine vs Hulk', Hulk ripped him in two and threw his limbs away. Logan, however, dragged his torso to them and recovered.
Back from a drop of blood
In 'Uncanny X-Men Annual #11', 1987 comic, Wolverine was fighting a mutant alien called Horde for the magical Crystal of Ultimate Vision. In his attempt to stop Horde's plans of universal domination, Wolverine was impaled on a javelin as Horde ripped his heart out. However, a single drop of blood fell on the Crystal, which was enough for Wolverine to regenerate as a God.
The taste of metal
In 1993 comic, 'X-Men" #25', the X-Men were fighting one of their arch-rivals Magneto. During the course of the battle, Wolverine stabbed Magneto with his claws, and in retaliation, he pulled every Adamantium molecule from Wolverine's skeleton, out of his flesh. Without his adamantium, Wolverine was left severely vulnerable and weakened for the next 10 years, until Apocalypse restored his adamantium skeleton.
