'The White Tiger': Priyanka, Adarsh feature on BAFTA 2021 longlist
Ramin Bahrani-directorial The White Tiger has earned several spots in the longlist for this year's British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) 2021, which was announced on Thursday. The movie's stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Adarsh Gourav have made it to the prestigious list in different categories. The White Tiger was released on Netflix on January 22. Here is more on this.
Chopra has been nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category
While Chopra has made it to the Best Supporting Actress longlist for her role as Pinky in the movie, Gourav is on the Best Actor longlist of BAFTA 2021. Chopra's cousin, Bollywood actor Parineeti Chopra was thrilled with this news. She tweeted, "Ladies and gentlemen MEET MY BAFTA LONGLIST SISTER...Can't wait for this to happen (sic)."

'The White Tiger' is adapted from Aravind Adiga's novel
The White Tiger tells the story of a servant, who rises to the top. The plot revolves around Balram Halwai (Gourav), a loyal servant to Ashok and Pinky (Rajkummar Rao and Chopra), who tries to break free from the barriers of poverty by becoming a driver for them. The movie has received positive reviews from critics and viewers.

Apart from the aforementioned acting nods, The White Tiger also made it to the BAFTA longlist in Best Film, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography and Best Editing categories. Celebrating the nominations at the prestigious award ceremony, Chopra shared a glimpse of the BAFTA 2021 longlist on Instagram and wrote, "Wow, all the feels for our beautiful film (sic)."

Notably, Gourav is racing against the likes of Riz Ahmed, Tom Hanks, Ralph Fiennes and others for the Best Actor award. Meanwhile, Chopra has been nominated alongside actors like Olivia Colman and Jodie Foster in the Supporting Actress category at BAFTA. Apart from The White Tiger, other movies named in the Best Film longlist include Nomadland, The Father, Da 5 Bloods, and The Dig.
