Netflix unveils 'The Umbrella Academy' final season trailer
Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for the much-anticipated fourth and final season of its popular superhero series, The Umbrella Academy. The trailer, set to Europe's 1986 song The Final Countdown, features the Hargreeves siblings gearing up for their last adventure. Based on a graphic novel series by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá, the show follows a family of adopted superpowered siblings tasked with preventing global catastrophe.
Final season presents new challenge for Hargreeves siblings
In the upcoming season, the Hargreeves siblings face an unprecedented challenge: living a normal life. This twist comes after the third season saw them lose their superpowers due to a complete universe reset. The original cast, including Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H Min, Ritu Arya, and Colm Feore are all set to return. The trailer also highlights Min's character Ben Hargreeves using his octopus-like tentacles in an action sequence.
New cast members join 'The Umbrella Academy' final season
The final season of The Umbrella Academy will also see new faces joining the cast. Nick Offerman, Megan Mullally, and David Cross are set to make their series debut. Offerman and Mullally will portray Drs. Gene and Jean Thibedeau, community college professors from New Mexico who experience extreme deja vu. Cross will take on the role of Sy Grossman, a shy business owner and family man eager to reconnect with his estranged daughter.
'The Umbrella Academy' final season premieres on August 8
The Umbrella Academy first premiered on Netflix in 2019, with its third season released in June 2022. The series was developed by Steve Blackman, who also serves as executive producer and showrunner. Other executive producers include Jesse McKeown, Mike Richardson, Keith Goldberg, Scott Stuber, and Beau Bauman while Way and Bá serve as co-executive producers. The six-episode final season of the popular superhero series is set to premiere on Netflix on August 8.
