Franchise overview
'The Tomorrow War' franchise: A recap and sequel anticipation
The Tomorrow War, directed by Chris McKay, premiered on Prime Video in 2021 with Pratt playing Dan Forester, a US military veteran who time-travels to 2051 to help humanity in a war against deadly aliens.
The film became an instant hit on the streaming platform, prompting Amazon to greenlight a sequel.
However, despite the success and anticipation for The Tomorrow War 2, the sequel currently remains unrealized nearly four years after the original's premiere.
Production challenges
Cast availability and the sequel's narrative foundation
The delay in The Tomorrow War 2's production is probably because of its cast members' busy schedules, especially Pratt who has been busy with several high-profile projects post-The Tomorrow War.
However, despite these challenges, Dean seems to have a great foundation for the sequel.
The original film also starred Yvonne Strahovski and JK Simmons.
