'Sandman 2': Thor enters Dream's world in stunning BTS clip
Netflix has released a behind-the-scenes promo for the second season of The Sandman, offering fans a glimpse of what to expect. The clip, which debuted during the streaming giant's Geeked Week event on Thursday, reveals Tom Sturridge's Dream (also known as Morpheus) bonding with his siblings and encountering several familiar characters from Neil Gaiman's comic book series.
Season 2 'definitely opens up,' says Sturridge
In the promo, Sturridge explains, "Now we know who Dream is and the world he exists within, it's possible to open up, and Season 2 definitely does that." The actor also expressed his excitement about the Endless siblings being together onscreen for the first time. The clip features Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Mason Alexander Park, and Donna Preston as Dream's siblings Death, Desire, and Despair.
New characters and worlds introduced
Showrunner Allan Heinberg shared that the new season will introduce entirely new casts, worlds, and historical periods. "We are introducing the rest of the Endless family," he said. The promo also features Laurence O'Fuarain as Thor, Freddie Fox as Loki, and Clive Russell as Odin, along with other mythical characters from Gaiman's comics.
'Season of Mists' storyline teased
The behind-the-scenes featurette provides a sneak peek at the "Season of Mists" storyline from the comics. In this narrative, Lucifer (Gwendoline Christie) relinquishes control of Hell and gives Morpheus the key to its gates. This action prompts numerous immortals to persuade Morpheus to hand over the key to them.
Other new characters in 'The Sandman' Season 2
The second season of The Sandman will also introduce Dream's other siblings: Destiny (Adrian Lester), Delirium (Esme Creed-Miles), and the Prodigal (Barry Sloane). They join the rest of the Endless for a "family dinner." Other new cast members include Ruairi O'Connor as Dream's son Orpheus, Ann Skelly as Nuala, Douglas Booth as Cluracan, Jack Gleeson as Puck, Indya Moore as Wanda, and Steve Coogan as the voice of Barnabas the dog.
