The Thor movies showed us the extremely powerful weapons Odin keeps locked away in the vaults of Asgard. They include the Destroyer, Casket of Ancient Winters and even the Tesseract, which was the vessel for the Space Stone, one of the Infinity Gems. However, the vaults have even greater treasures, and we bring you the five most powerful items in the vaults of Asgard.
The end of the world in one fell swoop
Thor's hammer Mjolnir might be the most recognized weapon in Asgard, but Odinsword is the most powerful. Belonging to the All-father, Odin, this weapon is said to have such destructive capability that unsheathing it would mean the end of all things. It remains locked away safely in the vaults of Asgard so the terrible curse of the sword is not unleashed upon the universe.
The spear that unites the realms
A symbol of Odin's power, Gungnir is the spear that Odin used to unite the nine realms. Crafted from Uru metal, the same material as Thor's hammer, it is one of Asgard's most powerful weapons. It is said to have been crafted by the Dwarves, from sunlight, as a gift to the All-father. Like Thor's hammer, the spear returns to Odin once it's thrown.
Seek and Destroy
Made of Uru metal, this is an automated soldier Asgard sends as a killing machine. The Destroyer is a mindless agent of destruction that Odin once used to fight the Celestials. Since Thor himself has a tough time battling the Destroyer if villains take control of it (yes Loki, that's you), it is a good thing Odin keeps it locked up in the vault.
The axe that shook the world
Remember how Thor used a battle axe after Mjolnir was destroyed? That is because before he was worthy enough to lift the hammer, another battle axe named Jarnbjorn was his weapon of choice. Known as the 'Wrecker of Worlds' the axe was later blessed with Thor's own blood, giving it enough power to penetrate a Celestial's armor. It is one of Asgard's deadliest weapons.
The space traveling sword
With the Space Stone gone from Odin's vault and safely with Thanos, the closest substitute is Balder's sword. The sword's power was first displayed when Thor needed a medicine to save Jane and the sword transported it from the furthest reaches of Asgard to earth. Another time, Balder used the sword's power to transport people between dimensions to save Sif from a deranged Thor.
