#ComicBytes: Did you know the Hulk has these 5 weaknesses?
Bruce Banner truly is the Incredible Hulk. Considered to be one of the strongest Marvel characters, and definitely the strongest Avenger (sorry Thor!), the Hulk has super strength, accelerated healing, and the ability to gain strength proportionally with his rage. These factors make the Hulk's strength potentially limitless. Despite this, he has lost several battles. Here, we bring you five weaknesses of the Hulk.
Oxygen: Choking on the rage
Despite being super-powered from the gamma accident, the Hulk's physiology remains human. Therefore, he needs oxygen to survive. Notably, in a battle with Namor the submariner, the Hulk was dragged to the bottom of the ocean where the lack of air knocked him out. Another time, Spider-Man—imbued with cosmic powers—punched Hulk into space where he faced the possibility of death.
Mind control: The illusion of free will
Despite his physical prowess, the Hulk's mind is open to psychological attacks. Therefore, he can easily be mind-controlled to negate his strength and essentially turn him into the villains' pawn. Over the Marvel comics, Mentallo turned Hulk into a servant, Onslaught convinced the Hulk to almost kill Cable, the X-Man, and Tyrannus convinced the green rage monster to destroy an airplane filled with people.
Magic: Under the influence of magic
Physically strong characters cannot hold a candle to the powers of magic and sorcery in the Marvel Universe. The Hulk is no exception. Some comics have seen the Hulk face-off Doctor Strange, the Sorcerer Supreme. One time, Strange simply transported Hulk to a different dimension without even engaging physically. Notably, Hulk also cannot handle Thor's magical hammer, Mjolnir, and Zeus's magical lightning bolts.
Gods: Curse of being a man among gods
Despite all his strength, the Hulk does not fare well against Gods. Believing in the absolute superiority of his strength, the Hulk often enters battles with characters much stronger than him. His battles with Thor can swing either way, but the time he took on Zeus, he realized the true power of a Thunder God. Zeus delivers a humiliating beating Hulk likely never forgot.
Adamantium: Scratching the surface of Hulk's strength
Hulk's super strength ensures that normal weapons do not even penetrate his skin. He has even been known to withstand energy blasts. However, a special metal can hurt Hulk—ironically one that his most battled characters have it. Wolverine's Adamantium claws can cut the Hulk's tissue. In 'Old Man Logan', when the Hulk ate up Wolverine, he ripped the green goliath from the inside.
