Hours after release, 'The Lion King' teaser-trailer makes a record
The Lion King, the Jon Favreau directed remake of the popular 1994 animated film, released its teaser trailer on November 22, marking the occasion of Thanksgiving. Slated to release in July 2019, the upcoming live-action animation has already garnered interest across a young audience and made older audiences nostalgic. The viral outreach of the trailer
As soon as the trailer released, it went viral and reached 224.6 million views over the world within a span of 24 hours, as per Disney Studios' reports. This makes it the second most-viewed trailer debut coming from any studio within the 24-hour time frame. Notably, the most-viewed trailer debut, too, comes from Disney, for Avengers: Infinity War, which garnered 238 million views.
Disney responds to the overwhelming support
Disney was completely overwhelmed by the enormous support for the trailer which rose globally. They took the opportunity to reach out to their fans through a recent post, thanking them for helping the trailer reach unfathomable heights of popularity. They referred to supporters as 'entire pride' making it a Lion King reference, since many lions are collectively called a pride.

It is unsurprising that a trailer for a film like The Lion King would garner widespread viewership. The story itself is pretty archetypal, involving a good father, an evil uncle, and a wronged son seeking revenge. Furthermore, for most of us, this film became an iconic part of our childhood. Therefore, nostalgia-driven hordes tried to recall their childhood through the trailer, making it viral.
