Another achievement! 'The Kashmir Files' bags 10/10 rating on IMDb
Looks like there is no stopping The Kashmir Files. Despite getting a limited release in the country, the Vivek Agnihotri directorial—which hit theaters on Friday—has been grossing a handsome collection at the box office. Now, in yet another remarkable feat, the movie has achieved an unbelievable 10/10 rating on the Internet Movie Database (IMDb) platform. Notably, no other Indian movie has achieved this feat.
The record was achieved with over 50K votes
Late on Saturday, multiple Twitter users shared screenshots of the film's IMDb page, where The Kashmir Files was boasting a 10/10 rating. The screen grabs suggested over 50,000 people (some suggested 64,000) had voted for the movie on the platform. At the time of writing, its IMDb rating has come down to 9.9/10 with 73K votes, but this is also a massive record.

This brings 'The Kashmir Files' on par with cinematic greats
The film's rating puts the Anupam Kher-starrer on par with classic movies like The Shawshank Redemption (9.3/10 on IMDb), The Godfather (9.2), and The Dark Knight (9.1). Is the movie that good? That could be the case, but it is essential to understand that IMDb ratings are not a benchmark for filmmaking. This is because these ratings can be manipulated by mass voting, too.
Most Bollywood movies have been scoring disastrously on IMDb
We have seen some Indian films—majorly those coming from the likes of Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, or Karan Johar—getting aggressively low ratings on IMDb. Remember when Sadak 2 had become the worst-rated movie ever? Or when Akshay Kumar's Laxmii was flooded with a 1-star rating on IMDb? Meanwhile, so-called independent films (like The Kashmir Files) have been hailed on the platform.
Meanwhile, people are arranging funds to go watch Agnihotri's directorial
Meanwhile, The Kashmir Files is doing quite well on social media, too. Several netizens have been arranging funds to send more people to watch it. And, the results are visible. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the movie has already amassed Rs. 12.05cr in two days of its release. This is a remarkable feat by the film, which released in just over 630 screens.
Its earnings more than doubled on Saturday
Director, producer met with PM Modi who praised the movie
To add to the happiness of the makers, the film's producer Abhishek Agarwal, along with director Agnihotri and his wife-actor Pallavi Joshi, met with PM Narendra Modi on Saturday. According to Agarwal, who shared pictures from the meeting online, Modi heaped praises on their film.
