Sony pulls 'The Kapil Sharma Show' off air
After several bad months including Kapil Sharma's tiffs with fellow comedians, dipping ratings and walkouts from The Kapil Sharma Show, Sony has pulled it off air. According to Kapil Sharma, the reason is that he is unwell. "I'm going to rest for some days…. I'll come back with full force," he said. For now, reruns of old episodes will be aired at 8pm.
A loss for Kapil Sharma, a gain for Krushna Abhishek
A Sony spokesperson said the decision to stop TKSS was mutual. "Once Kapil has recovered, we will start shooting again." Meanwhile, a source said from the next weekend, the comedy show hosted by Kapil's rival Krushna Abhishek, The Drama Company, will be aired at 9pm.
It's been a bad month for Sony
Reports of TKSS being pulled off air surfaced months back. In April, Sony reportedly gave it a one-month extension instead of renewing a Rs. 106cr deal. There have been reports that Ali Asgar, Sugandha Mishra and Upasana Singh seemed unwilling to return to Kapil's show. Sony has had a bad week: a couple of days ago, it pulled the plug on 'Pehredaar Piya Ki'.
