Fly like Iron Man with this jet-suit costing Rs. 3cr
What's the story
When Tony Stark was held captive in an unknown land in 'Iron Man', the desperation to come out alive led him to make the Iron Man suit.
The suit did two things: One it started the massive Marvel Cinematic Universe and second, it made Iron Man an enviable superhero.
Now, a former British commodities trader has made a jet suit, similar to Stark's.
The features
Like Iron Man, the suit lets you reach 12,000-feet
The jet suit went on sale in a London store at $443,428 (Rs. 3.05 crore). So obviously it is an expensive possession.
Notably, to give it an Iron Man feel, the inventor Richard Browning has put five miniature jet engines on the pilot arms and back.
It runs on diesel and can reach the speed of 32 mph and an altitude of 12,000 feet.
The flight
You can fly for 3-4 minutes in this expensive suit
Richard Browning flaunted his invention outside the luxury store Selfridges on Wednesday, and curious onlookers recorded the flight.
But the 3D printed, 27 kg weighing suit lets you fly for only 3-4 minutes. In hover position, the suit consumes four liters fuel/minute, making it even more expensive.
"That's something we're looking to improve but it's an inevitable consequence of flying without wings," Browning said.
Details
Suit is amazing, but you can't fight Thanos with it
At Selfridges, only nine of these custom-made suits are available. After purchasing, one will have to undergo mandatory flight training.
While this jet suit is closest to the Iron man one, its hands don't have repulsors, so you can't fight Thanos with it.
"It's actually surprisingly calm and not very violent. It's very passive and gentle when you're flying," revealed Browning.
