Here's what went behind Jacob Tremblay's look in 'Wonder'
Make-up artist Arjen Tuiten was handed over a difficult job of making nine-year-old Jacob Tremblay look like a boy who had a genetic disease that causes facial deformities in the movie 'Wonder.' He had to work his way a lot with the prosthetics and at the same time, he had to abide by the child labor laws. Here's how Tuiten went about it.
Tuiten and his team did extensive research
The make-up team devised an under-skull helmet that could pull down Tremblay's eyebags and make him look exhausted. They also played around with rubber pieces and a wig to get the desired look. "If this would have looked fake, the movie wouldn't have worked," said Tuiten. It used to take Tremblay one and a half hours to get into the look of his character.
The hard work fetched 'Wonder' an Oscar nomination
'Wonder' has been nominated in the Makeup and Hairstyling category of the 90th Academy Awards alongside 'Victoria & Abdul' and 'Darkest Hour.' The entire team of the film is overwhelmed with the honor and wishes to take the trophy home on March 4. 'Wonder' had released on 16 November 2017.
