'The Great Indian Kapil Show' will return for Season 2
Netflix's popular comedy talk show, The Great Indian Kapil Show, is set to return with its second season, as confirmed by actor-comedian Kiku Sharda in a recent News18 interview. This announcement follows the season wrap post on Archana Puran Singh's Instagram Stories, which had sparked speculation about the show's future. Sharda reassured fans that the wrap was merely "temporary" and promised a swift return of the next season.
Sharda discussed show's format and future plans
Sharda revealed that the first season of The Great Indian Kapil Show consisted of 13 episodes, and the team is already planning for the next season. He explained that while TV seasons traditionally ran longer, they are now exploring different formats to cater to the OTT audience. "There will be a short gap now and the second season will be back soon," Sharda added, promising fans a quick return of their favorite show.
Show's debut and notable guests of Season 1
The Great Indian Kapil Show made its Netflix debut on March 30, with Bollywood stars Ranbir Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni as the inaugural guests. The first season also welcomed a host of notable personalities including cricketers Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer; actors Diljit Dosanjh, Parineeti Chopra, and Aamir Khan; and director Imtiaz Ali. The final episode was filmed on May 1, with five episodes currently available for streaming on Netflix.
Upcoming episodes and Season 2 commencement
Sharda disclosed that eight additional episodes from the first season are scheduled to stream on Netflix in the upcoming weeks. The forthcoming episode will feature Bollywood actors Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. After these episodes are aired, there will be a short break before the commencement of the second season of The Great Indian Kapil Show.
