Kapil's show posts low viewership despite Alia, KJo appearance
The second season of The Great Indian Kapil Show, hosted by comedian Kapil Sharma, recently premiered on Netflix. However, despite featuring a star-studded guest list including Alia Bhatt, Karan Johar, Vedang Raina, and Vasan Bala promoting their film Jigra, the episode failed to match the viewership numbers of its first season opener. According to Netflix's Global Top 10 list last week, it claimed the number eight spot on the non-English TV list with 1.2M views and 1.4M viewing hours.
Season 1 premiere had set a high benchmark
The first season of The Great Indian Kapil Show premiered with an episode featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni. This episode introduced Sunil Grover back to the team and garnered a viewership of 2.5M with a global rank of three in the top 10 list. Despite this promising start, the show's viewership witnessed a decline throughout its first season.
'The Great Indian Kapil Show's viewership declined throughout 1st season
Following the successful premiere, The Great Indian Kapil Show's ratings spiraled downward. In week two, the show slipped to the fifth spot and by week three, it had dropped to seventh with a mere 1.7M views despite featuring the cast of Diljit Dosanjh's Amar Singh Chamkila. Throughout the season, an impressive array of celebrities graced the show but failed to reverse its downward trend in viewership numbers.
Season 2's second episode to feature 'Devara' team
The second episode of the show's second season will feature the team of Devara Part 1: Jr NTR, Saif Ali Khan, and Janhvi Kapoor. The promos suggest it is going to be a fun ride with the film's cast seen dancing on stage and entertaining the audience. In one clip, Sharma is seen asking Jr NTR to name his favorite heroine from North India, to which he reveals that it is Kapoor's mother and late actor Sridevi.
