What's the story
Get ready for another dose of meta superheroes as The Boys is returning with its third season on June 3.
Amazon Prime Video announced the release date for the hit series on Saturday, alongside dropping a new teaser.
The teaser trailer for the third season of the Emmy-nominated drama was released at a panel at South by Southwest (SXSW) 2022.
Here is its breakdown.
Teaser
What does the trailer show us?
The 1:46-minute clip begins with Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) getting his own set of laser-emitting powers.
While that would be interesting to explore, in separate, fast-floating cuts we get a look at other returning faces such as Hughie (Jack Quaid), Homelander (Antony Starr), and A-Train (Jessie T Usher).
Some fleeting scenes also hint at upcoming musical episodes and there might be more than one.
New entry
Jensen Ackles makes his appearance as Soldier Boy
What will be the most exciting this season is perhaps the entry of Soldier Boy, who is being played by Jensen Ackles of Supernatural fame.
As a parodical version of Marvel's Captain America, we can expect a brand new image of Ackles in this one.
Paired with a new single Bones by Imagine Dragons, the clip promises a lot of new turns and drama.

This 'The Boys' star made headlines for unsavory reasons
Notably, the new season announcement comes just days after Antony Starr, aka Homelander of The Boys, landed in legal trouble.
The New Zealand-born actor was shooting for a film in Spain when he engaged in a brawl with a chef at a bar.
After getting arrested, Starr was reportedly handed a 12-month suspended prison sentence for admitting to the drunken assault.
