'The Boys' actor Antony Starr arrested in Spain for assault
Antony Starr, popular for his stint in Amazon Prime Video's superhero series, The Boys, was arrested for assaulting a man in Spain recently. Starr was in Alicante, Spain shooting for a movie when he got involved in a bar fight with a young chef at 2:00am. After getting arrested, Starr was reportedly handed a 12-month suspended prison sentence after admitting to the drunken assault.
The incident took place on March 2
As per Spanish newspaper El País, the actor got involved in a scuffle with a 21-year-old chef named Bathuel Araujo on March 2. Araujo told the police that Starr was "very drunk" and "bumping and pushing" others. After a heated argument and fight with him, the 46-year-old apparently hit Araujo with a glass, causing a cut above his eye that required four stitches.
He was brought to court after two nights in custody
Apart from the physical assault, the 46-year-old star later also threatened the chef, saying, "You don't know who you've messed with. You won't know who I am and what you've done...I want to kill you." The New Zealand-born actor spent two nights in police custody after which a speedy trial at a local court convicted him of a crime of wounding, reported Daily Mail.
This is what the court holding speedy trial said
During the speedy trial, Starr was reportedly handed a one-year suspended prison sentence and fined £4,141. The court specified the only way he would be able to avoid serving time is to not commit another crime in two years and pay the fine within 72 hours. Starr was shooting for Guy Ritchie's action thriller in Spain and has already completed The Boys S03 shooting.
Know what suspended jail sentence means
To clarify, in a suspended sentence, a judge sentences a defendant to jail or prison time. But the difference is that the sentence is delayed letting the defendant serve time on probation. If during this probatory time, the defendant showcases good behavior, the judge usually dismisses the case. However, the defendant might risk serving the original sentence if they violate probation.
